RELATED STORY: Adrian Salic: How Cells Sense the Body’s Plan

Adrian Salic obtained his Ph.D. from Harvard University, working on the biochemistry of Wnt signaling, a key cell-to-cell signaling pathway involved in colon cancer. He then conducted postdoctoral studies in the Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School, during which he focused on how a cell’s genetic material is equally divided between its daughter cells.

Salic’s lab has two main interests: 1) understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in cell-to-cell signaling through the Hedgehog pathway, which plays fundamental roles in development and cancer; and 2) developing novel chemical probes for microscopic imaging and functional assays of various biological molecules (nucleic acids, proteins, lipids) in cells and in animals.
