The Next Civic Science Fellows
The fourth cohort of the Civic Science Fellows program launches in September, and the 2026–28 host partners are now accepting applications for this new contingent of civic science leaders. In collaboration with their host organizations, the Fellows will carry out pioneering work to co-create pilots, partnerships, knowledge, models, and new ways of working that can help seed collaborations between science and society.
Since 2020, over 70 Civic Science Fellows have worked toward a future where all people can shape science to expand its benefits and horizons. The growing Civic Science Fellows network includes journalists, bench and social scientists, community-facing practitioners, content creators, public-interest organizations, and funders who span boundaries and disciplines to develop evidence-based, human-centered approaches to build meaningful collaboration between science and civic life.
For 2026-2028, opportunities include fellowships within universities, research institutes, advocacy organizations, and academies, where Fellows will develop initiatives surrounding publicly visible scientific revision, study the impacts of social media-based health communication, map community partnerships, envision the future of science philanthropy, and more.
